MMR Honored with 2016 Craft Workforce Development Award

October 11, 2016

BATON ROUGE, La. MMR was recently honored at the Ninth Annual Craft Workforce Development Excellence Awards Banquet. The Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance, Inc. (GBRIA) recognized MMR for its investment in workforce development programs that include recruitment, assessment, training, career path development and employee retention. MMR received the 2016 Merit Award in the Hard Craft (Specialty Trade), Division I Size category.

MMR established a Craft Training Center in 2014 to provide clients with an expertly trained workforce and propel its certified craftsmen ahead of the projected manpower shortages in this industry. The Craft Training Center offers an Electrical Journeyworker Apprenticeship training program, recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor and the State of Louisiana, as well as NCCER Knowledge Verified, NCCER Performance Verified, and MMR Verified certifications.

This goes above and beyond what our facility requires and adds an extra layer of confidence in the quality of personnel and work product we know we will receive from MMR, said Bob Kosick with the BASF Geismar Facility. This standalone training center proactively addresses not only impending manpower shortages, but allows MMR to reduce cost(s) of turnover and rework as well as improve safety and quality.
